Our Businesses

All our businesses provide work, training and support for individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds who want to do real work for real pay. Here are some examples of how we work:

Fair Repairs

A repairs, maintenance and cleaning business established to give social housing residents work in their local area. Fair Business partnered with Housing NSW and Spotless to set up Fair Repairs, which is now operating in Campbelltown, Redfern/Waterloo, Nowra and Wollongong/Port Kembla. Visit the Fair Repairs website.

Social Roasting Company

Social Roasting Company is a coffee roasting and café business in Melbourne recently ranked in the ‘Top 10 Breakfast’ list by The Melbourne Age. Jobs for unemployed and disadvantaged people are being created in food preparation, cooking, coffee roasting, barista service, customer service, logistics and coffee bean packing and delivery.  Visit the Social Roasting Company website.

The Back Office

The Back Office provides accounting, financial management, marketing and other back office functions to Australian not for profit organisations. Visit The Back Office website.

The businesses we create have a high staff retention rate and history of internal promotion because of the importance we place on our integrated employment strategy. This has 3 core components:

  • Specialised recruitment – we work with community organisations and Job Service providers to engage long term unemployed and discouraged job seekers who do not have the capacity to access standard recruitment channels.

  • Training and support – we provide trade based training through partnerships with TAFE and provide support and mentoring to build up personal and professional skills and confidence.

  • Real work at award wages – we provide direct work for our employees immediately after they have completed the necessary training programs, subject to work availability. These jobs are remunerated with real wages using the award rate as a minimum. We endeavor to provide pathways to long-term, permanent employment for each employee.

"The training and experience you get opens up a world of opportunities. Fair Business gives you a go and that is all most of us need."
